UK Power Reserve

UK Power Reserve is a leading independent developer and operator of flexible power generation in the UK.

Headquartered in Solihull, UK Power Reserve was founded in 2010 when two of its current senior managers recognised a growing need for highly flexible reserve power capacity in the UK.

The business despatches power to the National Grid within minutes of instruction to avoid disruption to the nation’s power supply. At the time of investment, UK Power Reserve operates 14 highly flexible power-generating sites across England and Wales with a combined capacity of 185MW. The intention is to more than triple this capacity in due course.

All sites are maintained by UK Power Reserve’s highly skilled workforce and are closely monitored from its Virtual Power Station control centre in the West Midlands.

The closure of aging coal-fired power stations and the rapid growth of renewable generation will drive an increase in demand for rapid-response power generation over the coming years.
